“The finest clothing made is a person’s [own] skin, but, of course, society demands something more than this.” ~Mark Twain
I’m not entirely sure I agree with the first part of this quote. There are plenty of frocks in existence that look considerably finer and more interesting than one’s skin. And although I’m obviously grateful for the intricate blueprint behind skin, I doubt many of us actually recall it being made or the part we played. I believe designing and creating a wardrobe of slightly less biological origin will be much more fulfilling.
My name is Catja and I am quite new (as of 2012) to sewing and pattern drafting and am already (alarmingly) obsessed. I had no idea there was an activity that, so beautifully, combined math and technical nerd-ness with visual arts, creative expression and colour inspiration. I wish I had discovered it many moons ago!
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading and learning from the blogs and websites of other sewers/sewists, DIY enthusiasts, crafters, designers and fashion entrepreneurs around the globe and wanted to set up shop in a little corner of that community. Let’s be friends.
Let the seam ripping commence!

Cute pup! He does look like my dog, but my Scout is tiny–only 14 pounds.
Love that you have a Mark Twain quote!
Oh didn’t realize he was so tiny! My Millie was about 40 pounds. And thanks, I thought that quote fit in really well here.
Came by way of Gardening Nirvana, I love your furry fan club.
Thank you so much! Both for stopping by and for admiring the fan club. They are my biggest fans :).
Millicent, my doggie fan has since passed away, the cat and I both miss her dearly, but Kitty stills helps me out ALL the time with my projects. You’ll see evidence of that if you look at almost any post on the blog. lol.
Come by anytime and have a look around. We look forward to it :).
Oh no, sorry to hear you had to say goodbye to Millicent. She obviously adored you as much as you did her. We’ve done it twice ourselves with long time pets, I still don’t think I’m over it and it’s been 3 years since Buddy passed away. Heartfelt hugs.
Thanks for your support. Hugs back to you for the love you shared with your two long time pets. Millicent passed in June, 2012, was my first dog ever and so LOVED. I still miss her every day. But, look forward to the day when I am ready to have another shelter dog-in-need adopt me :).
me too 😀
I just popped over to see in what part of the world you hailed from. Still none the wiser but that gorgeous photo was well worth the visit! 🙂
Hee, my fur fans thank you! 🙂
Hello, I was sure I could find a picture of Millicent on your blog! She looks up in full admiration to you *heart*. She’s beautiful and looks so sweet! So is Kitty, I’m sure he knows but I thought I’d mention it so he won’t feel left out 😉
Hi Elise, Thanks! Yes, I could not have a blog without a pic of my canine baby. She really was a momma’s girl and the best Friend I could have. Kitty also worshipped the ground she walked on. And he does that for Nobody!! She’s a very special kind of dog. 🙂
Hello Catja. Great blog you have going here. I share your interests of sewing, gardening and home decor. Thank you for visiting my blog and deciding to follow it. I look forward to following yours, too.
Hi Kerri, thanks for stopping by! I look forward to sharing with each other in the future. Love it when people share the same interests. 🙂

Oh, wow, how fantastic! I so appreciate this, thank you very much. I have not heard of this award before but I’m in love with the name!! Kitty, of course, takes credit for the sweet part. 🙂
You’re very welcome:)
I wanted to take a moment to thank you for giving me words of encouragement on my Epic Failure post. The comments brought me out of my sea of depression and gave me the courage to get things refitted and completed, and it was on time! Our online sewing community is wonderful, and your participation is one of the reasons why! Thank you ever so much.
You are most welcome!! I am so delighted that you completed your dress, it came out wonderfully. I love having a blog for that same reason, the comments received can be so encouraging and helpful. I am honoured to have been able to help.
I’m sorry you are without power and in the cold, that’s misery. Appologies, I’m doing a work around by messaging here but I wanted to say Merry Christmas Gj and Kitty, just incase you are able to see it. You looked just beautiful visiting Santa, I’m sure it was the hi-light of his day. Fingers crossed for a recovery of the necessities soon. Lots of Hugs, Kelly.
Hi Kelly, thanks for your wishes! I just posted a new blogpost today about our trials and tribulations, lol.
