I’ve Hunted Down the Fabric for Jungle January!!

Hello fellow animal print lovers, I have finally found the fabric and the item I am going to make for Jungle January.

The fabric is a mix of leopard and lion on one side and camel on the other side.  So, we have the jungle and the desert coming together nicely.  It’s called Kashmir (and is synthetic) but has a nice soft feel to it and is fairly thick.  This is the what I’m going to make.  It is a trench style coat from the book Chic and Simple Sewing by Christine Haynes.

I am going to alter it, however, and make the sleeves long and not 3/4 length and I’m going to add a cuff.  I will also make a coordinating tie belt and add belt loops.  I’m excited to get started!

I did not make the jersey t-shirts (I’m still working on inserting sleeves as well as learning to sew with knits), so I bought T-shirts and just embellished them with monkey appliques and matching fabric appliqued on.

The green Jammies set were all based off of the Monkey fabric, so they all coordinated with camouflage patterns, shades of green and monkeys.

I also added coordinating fabric to the hems and waistbands of some of the pajama bottoms as well as to the chest pieces and straps of the nightgowns.  And note the blue monkey slippers that match with the blue linen nightgown.

Sewing Gifts Completed. Happy Holidays!

I have finished all my holiday gift sewing, but cannot post any of the projects or photos here quite yet, due to possible prying eyes…..

So, instead I will share with you how I made my very first lined tote bag out of all rectangle shaped pieces.  It was easier than I thought and came out quite professional looking.  Please see my post (Scene in Rectangles – Lined Tote Bag) for instructions and photos.

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Season’s Greetings and Peace and Joy to Everybody!  I hope you are all surrounded by love and happiness and a warm, furry kitty or puppy doesn’t hurt either.
