Oooooooh! Yes, indeed. Pattern Pyramid arrived yesterday from the lovely and talented Amanda at Symon Sez, so exciting! This pattern pyramid was originally started by the charismatic bundle of joy, Anne at Pretty Grievances. It has been quite the world traveller, visiting various continents and countries, enjoying cocktails, romps on the beach, did some shopping and even bought some cute souvenirs for the little pyramids, at home. The Pyramid began with Velosewer, as the first winner. It then went on to The Material Lady and next to Mrs. Mole at Fit for a Queen. After this, Pattern Pyramid enjoyed it’s journey to Tulle and Tweed and straight on to my predecessor, the previously mentioned Symon Sez. Fabulous!
Now, I also wanted to participate in Sew Grateful Week, hosted by My Happy Sewing Place, where bloggers can take the time to thank their readership and other bloggers for their ideas, comments, inspiration, humour, support, shares, insanity, mild profanity and many other things you can think of that put a smile on your face and make you feel loved. So, with both events looming and with the addition of recently hosting a Pay It Forward event on my blog just 5 days ago, I realized I can’t do it all!!! I’m not a machine!!!! :).
So, I decided to combine the two events and I am going to add a gift for Sew Grateful Week to the Pattern Pyramid for the next winner to keep. I racked my brain to try to discover ‘what does an experienced sewist that has everything, need?’ I came up with the answer “I don’t know”. Yes, a long, hard contemplative second that was.
So, I thought since many experienced sewers have so much, and they are constantly trying to just work through their stashes, and also because I am a new sewer, I wanted to give a shout out to other newbies and try to light the fire of sewing and crafting inspiration! So, I chose a book called: I Made it Myself. It is the absolute perfect gift for a brand new sewer. Some of you must have children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, younger siblings, neighbours, that you would like to inspire to learn to sew and create. This book includes: a sewing kit, a variety of projects to complete, tonnes of pictures, instructions, a fabric and stitches glossary and templates to use to create a variety of fashion and accessory items. (FYI, on the back it says, suitable for ages 7+ years, and I can see it working all the way up to a teenager, or even older! Hey, we’re all kids at heart).
Ok, now on to the Pattern Pyramid Specs. This is how it arrived, all tan and rested, a lovely globe spanning holiday it’s having, for sure.
Kitty went in to thoroughly peruse Pattern Pyramid. He investigated, he took his time, but finally, he selected the winning Pattern. Note: Kitty’s tail points directly at the winning pattern selection. Clever Kitty!
To the left is the pattern that I removed to keep for myself. I will sew and eventually blog this item. Stay tuned for that fun!
And below, is the pattern I chose to add back into the Pyramid. It is a top and pants set, and the top has princess seams up the front and back, it is lined and has a front button closure.
The pattern was purchased before I had ever sewn anything. I got it home, THEN checked the size….not even close. So, hopefully somebody who is this size will be able to enjoy it. Here is a more detailed breakdown of what is in the Pyramid:
A quick synopsis of the RULES of Pattern Pyramid for those who are not familiar:
- Anyone, anywhere can enter the giveaway by posting a comment below by Sunday February 17, 2013.
- You must have an active blog.
- A winner will be randomly selected and contacted. I will then post (mail) the pyramid to you, plus the Sew Grateful Week gift (I Made It Myself book). Oh, how will Kitty top the last giveaway draw officiating tactics??? He is confident he can. Don’t worry.
- The winner will then select a pattern to keep, add a pattern of their own back into the Pyramid and host their own giveaway. They will randomly select another winner and post (mail) the remaining patterns to that person, and etc.
Yippee!! Good luck everybody!! And Thank You to everyone for stopping by my blog to say hi! I AM sew grateful. 🙂 Feel free to follow my blog and/or my facebook page, as well, if you don’t already. And let me know where I can follow yours!

How did Kitty resist the fabness of that wrap apron dress???
Hi! Well, it was not in Kitty’s size. 🙂 I hope that I have done your Pattern Pyramid justice with my post!
Loved it! Isnt this fun?
Very much! Thanks for starting it!
I, too, love that wrap dress, and would love to be a part of the pattern pyramid! Thanks!
Absolutely! Welcome to the Pyramid and the Sew Grateful Giveaway.
Hi I have just started following your blog and my own blog is here http://missdollybowpeep.blogspot.com.au/ I have just started to learn how to sew and really appreciate all the sewing blogs that are around. Im hoping that next year I can be part of the Sew Grateful Week!
Well, this is my first time participating in Sew Grateful Week, so very happy to have you aboard! I’m following your blog as well 🙂
Just started to follow you blog. Great patterns that you have to give away, but I won’t enter as I have my Pattern Pyramid going on as well!!
Oh, hi Debbie, well thanks for stopping by and following! This is the first pattern pyramid I have won, as well! They are fun! Well, I’m happy we are following each other’s blogs now and can keep in the loop, as they say. I will be having giveaways in the future as well. I thought it would be fun to combine the Sew Grateful Giveaway with the Pattern Pyramid for this time.
Yay! I’m so glad it got there so fast, and I’m really looking forward to seeing your pyramid make!! ^_^
There will be some alterations (lancing, really) so stay tuned. 🙂
I can’t wait to see how your new pattern turns out, and what kind of fabric you choose. I’ve done a bit of fashion sewing but my machine is very basic to todays standards. So I stick to home decor mostly. I’d like to get a good sewing machine if we ever get into a house and I have a room to sew in.
Hi there, thanks for stopping by! Yes, I havn’t selected the fabric yet, but have something in mind. Whether it exists in the real world, is another story.
Love your blog. I am following via Google Reader now.
Thanks for the lovely giveaway!!!
Thank you for the compliments and welcome aboard!
I am now following your blog on Google Friend Connect. 🙂 Looking forward to keeping in touch!
This is such a great idea! I won’t join this time (don’t say anything but I don’t have any patterns yet… I’m a bit scared with all those lines!), but I’ll next time 🙂
No patterns!!?? Lol, that’s okay, I won’t tell anybody. I prefer to use instructions and draft my own, anyway. If it makes you feel any better, the first pattern I purchased (the one I submitted here), I just assumed it was “multisized” thinking it would fit everybody! (seems a bit silly now, but that’s what I thought). And, I got it home and realized, ohhhh, no there are levels of multisizes. So, hence, my contribution to the Pattern Pyramid. I love the pattern, the top is so pretty, and flattering, but it’s way too big for me 😦
I have been following that wrap dress pattern all over the damn planet and I want it! Do you take bribes? I have some lovely dark brown silk or some camel and cream herringbone silk? Anything?
I have no shame.
Lol. ALL over the planet!? Well, you must at least be happy I did not remove it from the pyramid then! Bribes, you say?? Hmmmmmm……well, in reality it’s not up to me. Kitty is our officiator for all contests and draws. See the link above under RULES (#3). You’ll see what I mean. And lucky for you, Kitty does not have a high moral fibre. He just enjoys stardom, being worshiped and the comforts of life. 🙂
Hey glad to see the pyramid is still doing the rounds and terrific give a way. Not entering just commenting 🙂
Comments are much appreciated! Thanks, I thought it would spice things up a bit to add the Sew Grateful Week Giveaway to it. Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
I don’t have a blog. I love to enter this giveaway…
Kitty thanks you profusely for the compliment! Thank you very much for stopping by my blog!
Unfortunately, for this giveaway, it is combined with the Pattern Pyramid, so you will have to have an active blog in order to participate.
However, do not fret! I am having another giveaway with a different prize, likely at the end of March / beginning of April, so stay tuned and please keep in touch, so that you can come back to enter. Thanks again! 🙂
Ooh, how exciting. I’d like to enter please!
Consider yourself entered! And, yes, the excitement builds!!!
Reblogged this on Pretty Grievances and commented:

You are officially counted! And, the Pattern Pyramid is excited to go back to Australia, it has not been there in a while. It is packing it’s suntan lotion, just in case!

I am penciling you in now! The Cynthia Rowley pattern looks forward to possibly making your acquaintance.
I’m new to blogging but have been sewing for a while now. That wrap dress has really caught my eye too! I’ve only recently become aware of this Pattern Pyramid thing. What a great idea! I’m sure the pyramid wants to travel back Downunder! And then I’ll have something extra to add to my new blog! http://sewleonie.blogspot.com.au/
Oh, you are the second entrant from sunny down-under. Now Pattern Pyramid is packing two bottles of sunscreen as it’s chances of going to Australia, just doubled! And, I shall check out your blog, so happy to have you aboard Leonie!
Hi, I just found your blog today and find it quite delightful. I couldn’t help noticing an Elm Chevrolet ad at the bottom of your blog – I clicked on the link to find out that it’s located in Elmira, New York. I’m from Elmira and couldn’t help but wonder if you are too???
Hi Faye Lewis, I am so tickled pink that you find my blog delightful!! Thanks for stopping by.
Actually those ads you see on your account when you open my blog are put there by the WordPress company that is hosting my blog, and not by me. I am not affiliated with the ads in any way, and I know they have different ads that change. I suspect that WordPress reads your IP address and selects an add accordingly, i.e. for your region/area.
I don’t actually live in Elmira, New York or even in the United States. But, Elmira is such a cute name for a city! I hope you enjoy yourself out there! I have entered you into the Pattern Pyramid and Giveaway.
Went to your blog today and it is terrific! I am now following you on Twitter.
I love this idea! Would love to participate 🙂
You are absolutely welcome to participate and nothing would make Kitty happier. He enjoys company :).
Please toss my name in the hat. I’m hosting a Pattern Pyramid/Giveaway as well.
Hi Angela, you have just been tossed into a hat. But gently, as we didn’t want to cause any bodily harm.
If you would be so kind as to leave your blog information so that I and any of my readers who were interested in your pattern pyramid/giveaway may be able to go and have a peek!
Hello, I love the look of the “I made that” book. I have a couple of little makers here who would enjoy it. And this grown up would like to rummage through the pattern pyramid! Thanks for commenting on my giveaway – it has led me to your lovely blog which I hadn’;t seen before. 🙂
Hi there Minnado, Welcome to the Pyramid! I am so delighted you stopped by and excited that you have some little makers that could put that book to good use!
Come back and visit anytime. I look forward to seeing what’s next on your blog, as well.
I’d revive my old sewing blog for things like this! Any of those patterns would be happy at my house!
Sure, why don’t you, Elizabeth P? Pattern Pyramid would be more than thrilled to stop by for a visit.
An interesting selection – some fun pieces here!
Yup, Pattern Pyramid is chock full of fun! Welcome to our happy sewing family!
Thanks, I look forward to many happy hours sewing!
What a clever idea! I love it! Count me in, please 🙂
Hi there, so happy you love the Pyramid. And it was certainly not my idea, but I was lucky enough to win this round! I do believe the original idea was begun by Did You Make That? and then other people have started their own to keep it going.
You are in for the count, thanks for dropping by my blog!
Kitting picked a great pattern for you… goes to show he’s got great taste and knows what looks good on you. Looking forward to seeing this one made up. Love the pattern pyramid idea and it’s a great way to try something you might not have thought of making before. Hahahaha just noticed I called Kitty “Kitting”… ah well he was having fun Kittying around and having some fun picking your pattern for you LOL
Lol. You made his name into a verb! He likes it!!
Good to hear… nothing like making a kitty smile 🙂
Yes, kitty knows I’m still not advanced at sewing, so he picked an easy pattern and he also selected my size! He is clever as can be. You are welcomed in with warm open arms and paws, for a chance to win!
And, I wanted to spread the joy of sewing around to new sewers, so I’m glad you like the added gift, thank you for the compliments. 🙂
You’re welcome and you can tell Kitty I think he’s super clever and a great addition to the sewing community… mmmm kitty couture LOL

Hi There Lillian Couture. You are so completely counted for the giveaway and Pattern Pyramid! You can check my next post, it has the Burda pants that I am currently working on for Fearless February! Because I am FEARLESS!! 🙂
You are fearless and you know I checked it out !!!!I left a comment before I got this reply I am loving those pants and can’t wait to see the finished results. I also really am liking Burda I have a ton of there patterns but didn’t use any for the challenge. I am posting the outfit I am currently working on.
Oh Fabulous! I like the Burda patterns very much, but am finding the instructions and pattern pieces to be somewhat lacking in detail. I am excited to check out the outfit you are currently working on!
There’s a pattern or two there that I wouldn’t mind owning, so put me in the draw, please! 🙂 I found you from your comment on my blog, off to check yours out! 🙂
Hi there CGCouture. I’m so happy you dropped by! And, you are so IN for the draw. Deadline is tomorrow, so nicely timed! Please have a look around at my blog and do stop by again. I’m loving my new sewing and blogging past-times and was so happy to have found your blog as well!
