Sewing with Cats: Kitty Has Graciously Accepted An Award!

Most of you know, by now, the infamous Kitty, who is my sidekick, my Super Sewing Hero and my friend.  (The term, Super Sewing Hero was coined by blogger, Chris Lucas, and Kitty likes it!!).  He has graciously accepted an award: the much coveted Sewing With Cats Blog Award! Sewing With Cats Blog AwardThis award has generously been bestowed upon him from the exuberant science and cat enthusiast, Cindy, from Cation Designs.  She is a woman after my own heart as I am also a science freak, as education and profession can attest to, and cat lover, as Kitty can attest to.  Kitty had promised Cation Designs that he would dress for the occasion, to which she replied “If Kitty dresses up, it will be the best thing ever!!” (here, in the comments section).

So, without further ado, here is Kitty accepting his well deserved (his words) award. Kitty Accepting His Award Wardrobe Change 3What, you wanted him to wear a tuxedo?!  How ridiculous would that be?? A cat in a tuxedo!  And, he also took the time out for a wardrobe change during the awards ceremony.  Because that’s just the kind of Kitty he is.  Kitty Accepting His AwardGood Kitty.

One of the questions from Cation Designs that I’m to answer when accepting this award is as follows:Kitty Accepting His Award 2

  • Question (Cation Designs):  Are you ever afraid to post too many pictures of your helpful feline assistant on your blog, for fear of being labeled a crazy cat lady?
  • Answer (Gjeometry):  Apparently not.

“Help Me”

I obtained Kitty from an animal shelter, as I did all my pets (I had another cat and a dog, both my firsts and both of whom have now passed on. –WE MISS YOU!–).  And, when the time is right, I look forward to having another homeless pet adopt me, hopefully in the near future.  But, for now, It’s Kitty and I, teamed up to wreak havoc on fabric everywhere.

Thank you, Cation Designs, for such an honour.

And now that his momma knows how to sew, he can look forward to wardrobe highlights such as this:  Matching Mom and Kitty Outfits by the lovely and talented Cherry Pix.  After viewing her gorgeous renfrew tops, scroll down to the bottom of the post.  You’ll thank me.  🙂

Lol, thanks! And, now that momma is learning to sew……Kitty is in for a for a real tailoring treat. That, or he best run and hide, it depends on your perspective. 🙂

        • Gjeometry says:

Oh my goodness!!! Thank you so much for posting this, it is SO AWESOME! I LOVE meeting other crazy cat ladies. And that matching vest you made your Kitty. Inspired! And she looks so beautiful!

These costumes were actually purchased, specifically for Hallowe’en, but Kitty does love to get them out and dress up in them every now and again. But, now, since I am learning to sew……Kitty is in for a whole new hand-sewn wardrobe. We should totally get together and trade outfits for our Kitties!! 🙂

Ok, I confess I am not a cat person, the only caveat being a dark tabby-coloured tom in my teens that was the best barn cat ever. But never mind that…is that Liberty of London in the last photo? I have been looking for more of that design for years.

    • Gjeometry says:

Kitty sends…..tepid greetings, at best. LOL. Actually that fabric Kitty is sleeping on is a twin bed duvet that I bought to cover an old chair. I loved the fabric on it and actually purchased it at a discount store!

Kitty is absolutly adorable. He looks good in any costume his momma puts on him. Obviously he like to pose & maybe momma is very patient to get the perfect shot. It’s nice that you adopted your pets from shelters. We do, as well.

    • Gjeometry says:

Kitty says thanks! Yes, it does take some patience, but really, he’s such a good cat for stuff like this as he’s quite interested in what’s going on. But, I think it also makes him a big trouble maker, because he always wants to be part of everything. All the pets I’ve been lucky enough to have from shelters have really been the best!

  3. Chris Lucas says:

Oh Kitty you really are a “Super Sewing Hero” now! You’ve even won an award to prove it and can show it off with pride in your sewing room. I bet Catja’s glad you let her share it with you! GO KITTY and those outfits make you look extra handsome too… wink wink. My dog “Zoe” adopted us too last year and she’s also from an animal shelter and she’s a little darling as well. Although she doesn’t get into sewing as much but loves sitting under my sewing table while I’m sewing and is always hanging around in my sewing room with me checking out what’s going on. Mmm I’m thinking maybe I should make her some little outfits as well as she’d probably love wearing them as much as you do Kitty. Oh I better say hello to Catja while I’m here or she’ll think I’m ignoring her… “Hi Catja”. Gotta go now Kitty as I was in the middle of talking to Catja on Twitter and she’ll think I’ve forgotten about her 🙂 Congratulations Kitty… sending virtual kitty scratches on the tummy from me and from Zoe too xxx

    • Gjeometry says:

Aw, Kitty thanks you! You are very kind! Kitty loves virtual tummy rubs. And, how nice you got your dog from a shelter. They’re the best, aren’t they? You should post pics, I don’t think I’ve ever seen your dog! And, yes, you MUST make her little outfits. That’s part of the joy of having pets, lol. A teeny bit of humiliation is good for the soul. 🙂

  4. Chris Lucas says:

Kitty is very welcome 🙂 And I agree animals rescued from a shelter are the best… I think they know they’ve been given another chance and truly appreciate it and show it with so much love. You can see of pic of Zoe here http://chrislucas.com.au/about-me/ and I’ll definitely have to make her some outfits and share more about her in my posts as well… she really is a joy and it would be fun making her things too. And I agree a little humiliation is good for the soul for sure…heck I do it to myself all the time LOL

    • Gjeometry says:

Awww, she’s a button!!! You must showcase her more. I’m so happy to have found sewing bloggers that also love their pets. I definitely love my new love, sewing, but not as much as I could love all the pets I’ve had over the years. Everybody in my family are “animal people” and I’m glad to have received the gene. (And, really, speaking of humiliation, looking back at pics of me from school, as a kid, etc. I have worn FAR more embarrassing things than I would ever dress the cat up in. LOL).

      • Chris Lucas says:

Zoe said to say thank you and that she wants to be showcased too… she said she’s feeling left out and said “dat puddy tat gets online and I wanna be too”. So I told her OK Ok I’m hearing you… be a good girl and you will too LOL. My family’s the same all animal lovers. There sure are a lot of animal lovers that sew which is great. I too have worn far more embarrassing things and have lived through it and can laugh about it just like our little Kitty & Zoe will too LOL

  5. Elise Lin says:

Awww Kitty looks so adorable in his outfits! Of course the award is well deserved, he is a cat isn’t he? They deserve all the best naturally. Yours seem to be ok with showing his best side, I can’t seem to convince mine it is in their own interest if they’re wearing a cool outfit, not even for a snack. Purrs to Kitty from my bosses!

    • Gjeometry says:

Ah, Thanks Elise! He is pretty proud of his outfits, as well. He likes to be in the thick of things and does not mind dressing up at all. He sends out kitty hugs to your bosses. 🙂

Oh Kitty! This morning Flannery announced her hatred of the day with an unexpected piddle in the corner of the computer room- if she doesn’t improve, she will never get to follow in the Sainted Kitty’s pawsteps and achieve fame and haberdashery splendor! This award is well-deserved for all Kitty does and wears to inspire!

    • Gjeometry says:

Kitty humbly thanks you for recognizing all that he does and wears! I do believe that Flannery is announcing to you that she wishes to be a star on your blog while featured in lovely hand sewn costumes and performing amazing feats of bravery. In a nutshell, a tad jealous, I’m sensing. Kitty’s offer still stands to share his knowledge of the good life with her.

  7. terevaleeracy revalee says:

Kitty, oh Kitty, I envy your momma so. For, after a lifetime of cat companionship, I fell deeply in love and have been married15 years to a man who is allergic. Oh, tyou can bet it was hard to choose the cat-less life, but still, he is exceptional. So I love watching you. I am a huge fan and know you deserved this award. Con-cat-ulations.

    • Gjeometry says:

Oh No!!!!! Kitty’s worst nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!! Allergy shots, allergy shots!! But, at least you can visit Kitty and his antics any time you please. Thanks for your con-cat-ulations :).

  8. Charlotte says:

Oh, Kitty is the sweetest. If tried to put an outfit on Basil or Clive, I’d have shredded fabric and and unspooled thread on my hands. I have to show them pictures of your fair Kitty.

    • Gjeometry says:

Hi Adrienne! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and for your compliments.

It’s easy to be hilarious when you have a sidekick such as Kitty. He really does Rock! And, he’s rather delighted that you noticed :).

It was fantastic meeting you, as well, I had SO much fun!! I shall check out the pics link you sent. I emailed you my pics earlier. Talk soon!

  9. Javie says:

Kitty is too cute! In my childhood, I had a cat named Prince that only responded to “Kitty” (everyone called him that) so this reminds me of my dear Kitty. Too bad my husband is allergic (or at least claims that) so these days we have a pet-free home now.

    • Gjeometry says:

Ah, thanks! Kitty thinks he is too cute, as well :). It’s so nice that he can remind you of your dear childhood kitty. They stay with us forever, don’t they? Kitty has one thing to say to your husband. “ALLERGY SHOTS!!!!” 🙂

    • Gjeometry says:

Hi Debbie. Interestingly, Kitty is also a dog person!! Sadly, his doggie died in June, but he definitely loved her more than anyone, including me! We all miss her dearly.

And, you’re most welcome for the cake pops. It was so great to meet you! Can’t wait till the next meet-up :).

  10. jagodas says:

Catja, it was great meeting you on Saturday! I love your blog, and I nearly died when I saw what Kitty was wearing! You’re a fantastic sewist, I don’t understand why you were so humble when talking about your skills… I’ll be seeing you around, on web or in real life!
PS. My blog is up and running too!

    • Gjeometry says:

Hi there!! It was so great to meet you as well on Saturday. I’m so happy you started your own blog, I’m following it now. Feel free to follow mine as well to keep in touch.

And, thank you so much for your lovely compliments. I blush. Everything I’ve made, to date, has been quite simple, but you obviously have to start somewhere, so I’m getting more complex in my designs and techniques. I will love to have you back here, visiting the blog and to see you again soon!

Kitty is also delighted that you noticed his outfits. He’s quite proud of his wardrobe. 🙂

  11. Cation Designs says:

Oh Kitty, if only Walnut would learn from you and wear costumes! He’s got a bee costume that he absolutely refuses to wear. Maybe if I show him Kitty-as-a-ladybug he’ll be shamed into it!

    • Gjeometry says:

Aw, Kitty and I both thank you, Cindy, for the lovely award and Kitty thanks you for noticing how fabulous he looks in his outfits. :). He is only to happy to chat with Walnut about the joys of wearing an animal themed wardrobe. Tell Walnut to contact him.

And, we both thought that Walnut looked VERY handsome in the whale tie, the other day.

  12. kristonlion says:

Oh my gosh. Kitty. You and walnut are turning a self-proclaimed dog-person into wanting a cat. I’m lurking adoption websites now. Shelter babies are the best! You totally deserved the award. Congratulations!

    • Gjeometry says:

Hee! Kitty feels very smug right now :). And, he thanks you for your congratulations!!! I say ‘go for it!’ on your kitty adoption. You won’t regret it, for sure! And, yes, shelter babies are all that I’ve known and I really think they deserve to have a happy life and be loved.

  13. smittenness says:

I love this post. Cats, eh? They just HAVE to get involved with everything. I’m really impressed that you managed to get Kitty dressed. I’d probably lose an arm and be subjected to months of feline mind games if I tried it.

    • Gjeometry says:

Yes, Kitty is notorious for being on the pulse, as they say. Kitty could have a talk with your felines, if you like. He’s quite the showman and enjoys his outfits. 🙂
