Yes, because over here, an ice storm has caused a power outage and we are without power, heat and internet. My cellphone does not even work. It is day 2 of dropping temps indoors and Kitty is wearing his sweater (jumper) full-time in the house, which is down to a brisk 11 degrees Celsius (51 degrees Fahrenheit). And still shivering. Brrrrr. But, it’s still warmer than outdoors….so far. Tree limbs are down everywhere, streets are closed, it’s pretty crazy! I am currently at the public library (yay for libraries!!) using their internet, power and heat. Ahhh, heat. And, the best part? I have the flu!!! Seriously.
I had almost completed my Christmas dress, the Deer and Doe Belladone in silver and gold dupioni silk, before the power went out. All that is left, is to insert the invisible zip and add the hem facings. So close!! I hope power is restored soon. Word is that it may take over a week!
Well, it’s certainly a good time of year to reflect on your life, give thanks for all you have and to consider donating to those that may not have as much.
I want to wish everyone peace, love, a purring kitty and, most importantly… (and something you don’t actually realize you really miss until it’s gone)… a warm toilet seat. π
Happy Holidays my friends.

Looks like kitty had fun with santa. Hope you guys are soon nice & warm. Wishing you a very merry christmas , even if you don’t get to have christmas dinner till sometime later. Love & kisses to both of you!
Well, it depends on *why* the toilet seat is warm…. π No, I know what you mean. We lived at the “end of the line” when I was a kid, so anytime the power went out, we were the last to get it back, 3-4 days was completely normal, but we had a fireplace to “heat” (I use that term loosely considering our drafty farmhouse!) so at least there was that. You need a treadle sewing machine for this type of situation! π
Anyway, sorry to hear about the flu, I had that once, and I NEVER want to experience that again! Hope you are feeling better soon and that no one else gets sick!
Merry Christmas to you and Kitty – love your Christmas photo with Santa! =)
I hope you get power back soon and start to feel better! Glad you have at least a few minutes to warm up at the library. Sending warm thoughts your way!
That is the cutest Santa photo ever. And I am so sorry to hear that you are still without power. Oh, that sucks (to understate things entirely). Be well! You know 2014’s gotta start better than 2013 ends.
Can it get any worse? At least you have a warm cuddly Santa and a kitty for company! Wishing you the chance to laugh at this NEXT Christmas and much more time to sew when things are back to normal. When our temps drop that low, at least the garage becomes the fridge when the power goes out….have to be thankful for small mercies…keep smiling!
so sorry to hear you are powerless – literally and electrically – I hope it comes back soon, although I admit I have fond memories of a electric-free candle-lit Christmas at my grandparents when I was a kid. My grandparents had an oil burning stove and open fireplaces, so it was only marginally inconvenient, most the neighbours with electric cookers and heating were much less comfortable… and until your heat is restored – while I was waiting for the heating to be repaired in my building earlier this winter I used tea lights and flowerpots to heat my office space – it really takes the edge off the cold: http://www.trueactivist.com/how-to-easily-heat-your-home-using-flower-pots-tea-lights/
Sorry to hear you are without power, heat and the internet. I hope normality is restored very soon for both you and kitty ; )
I too am without heat this Christmas but it is a by-product of self inflicted house rennovations which have slightly got a bit out of control! Too much to do but not enough time x
Wishing you a lovely Christmas x

I have felt your pain! Wishing you a Merry Christmas and hope your toilet seat warms up soon!
Oh no, that’s not good news at all for you and Kitty! I hope your power comes back on sooner than later and you can have warm seat on the loo again. Just the thought of it puts a chill up my spine… I’ve only ever experienced one winter like that and that was in Tasmania about 25yrs ago and the memory of sitting on that toilet seat is still there LOL.
I hope you get over your flu quick as I had one a couple of months ago and it really knocked me around and was a shocker.
On a happier note… Merry Christmas to both you and Kitty all the from Bali π
I just loooove that picture!!! Merry Christmas to you!
Happy Christmas!
Hope you got your power back! May the force be with you!
OOOH!!! All this is happening and you still want to wish us a merry Christmas- girly you are amazing- I hope you feel better, finish your dress and have a warm house for you and the kitty!I hug you warmly!!!!
Oh you poor thing. No heat and the flu, what did you do to piss off Santa?
I am assuming from your use of Celsius that you are in Canada, and from what I understand power should be restored soon. I will be thinking good thoughts for you. Feel better soon and be careful. β₯
Merry Christmas. I hope they can get the power on for you very soon. 11 degrees is very cold in the house.
So sorry to hear of your difficulties – hug the cat and both stay warm! I hope the electricity supply is restored very soon and that you had a wonderful Christmas π
Oh my goodness! I hope everything has been resolved and you guys are warm!!
Surely by now it’s all warm over there?!!! Surely! Well if not have fun hanging out in the Library.. your belladone can now be your NY dress π Happy belated Christmas.
So sorry to hear about those misfortunes.. No power, heat AND Internet …. and you still manage to stay good-humored! Happy Christmas to you and your family, and hope everything is back to normal by now…
I’m reading in reverse again. I do that a lot. Love this picture of you, looking bright and festive…and warm. I’m glad the library was a safe and warm refuge. Good thinking!
I’ve been in a snow storm before (in my years in Ontario) but never an ice storm. It sounds brutal. Glad the power is on again.
Sitting on a cold toilet was definitely the worst past of the power outage – brrr! We actually took in a stray cat during the storm. She showed up looking cold and lovely and we decided she needed to come in to our place. Unfortunately, being the independent lady that she is, she decided to abandon us as soon as the temperatures rose this past weekend. I miss her purring π
I had to LOL at the warm toilet seat part… do you have one of those fancy toilet seat warmers or is it THAT cold? If it is… I really hope your power has been fully restored ^__^ Also – Beautiful pic of you and Kitty π Lots of love for 2014
