“The finest clothing made is a person’s [own] skin, but, of course, society demands something more than this.” ~Mark Twain
I’m not entirely sure I agree with the first part of this quote. There are plenty of frocks in existence that look considerably finer and more interesting than one’s skin. And although I’m obviously grateful for the intricate blueprint behind skin, I doubt many of us actually recall it being made or the part we played. I believe designing and creating a wardrobe of slightly less biological origin will be much more fulfilling.
My name is Catja and I am quite new (as of 2012) to fashion and pattern design as well as sewing and am already (alarmingly) obsessed. I had no idea there was an activity that, so beautifully, combined science/math and technical nerd-ness with visual arts, creative expression and colour inspiration. I wish I had discovered this many moons ago! I have also been involved with interior design and gardening for some time, so hopefully, that background will help out in my sewing and crafting projects.
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading and learning from the blogs and websites of other sewers, DIY enthusiasts, crafters, designers and fashion entrepreneurs around the globe and wanted to set up shop in a little corner of that community. Let’s be friends.
Let the seam ripping begin!
